Various small tests done on Unity game engine
Year: January 2020
Tools: Unity, Paint Tool SAI
These screenshots are from trials of using some experimental features of Unity,
or just trying out visual styles in general.

Unity at the time had an experimental Sprite Resolver feature. It kind of worked like a doll-maker, where you can either programatically or manually switch out parts of sprites.

GIF demonstrating it working during an animation.

The issue that I couldn't resolve with it was that two objects with a sprite resolver had random layer priority when they both overlapped.
This issue can be seen in the above GIF when the player walks past the rabbit.

Here I tried a more "illustrated" world with a character animated with Unity's animation feature.

Demonstrations of bones on a decked-out character with random colors just so I can tell the pieces apart.
You can rig it manually and it'll stretch the textures automatically.
Pretty cool

Magical girls theme.

First sprite with second sprite.

A mage girl flash-jumping with particle effects

A visual style similar to MapleStory and LISA.

In the end I seldom know where I'm going with anything,
and none of it is fun, but I do them anyway.
